What's It All About?
About TheReelTodd.com (a brief history)
Updated January 20, 2009
This website started out as simple portal to share my production videos in 2001 (before it was called "TheReelTodd.com"). In 2003, I registered my domain and made it a little bit more official. I slowly added more video productions to the site over the next few years. In 2007, I added a blog section to my site using Movable Type 3. In the spring of 2008, I jazzed things up a little by using the Movable type 4 platform as a content management system for my entire website, effectively wiping out the remaining bits of my old, manually coded, crappy-looking website. As a result, the site looks much better, is easier to navigate, and is a lot easier to manage.
In 2008, TheReelTodd.com morphed from a simple portal for my videos in to more of a collection of my production videos, other creative interests, product reviews, informative information, and a bunch of random stuff. Is it a blog? Is it a video portal? Is it a place to pick up useful information? Is it a throw-back to the ancient texts of Timbouktou? I guess the short answer is simply: it is what it is. I'll let you know what it is officially... when I figure that part of it out for myself as well. For now, whatever you get out of your visit here is what it is.
I haven't had much time to devote to site updates lately. Maybe if I wrote a nice letter to the keepers of time, they might insert an extra hour or two into the day to help me out. :-P

I'm just your average,
normal, modest, humble, nerdy, long-haired freak.
I was a child of the 70's and 80's and grew up enjoying nerdy sci-fi movies, video games, and weird stuff. From a young age, I was fascinated with the movie magic of animation and special effects. It wasn't until my late 20's that I finally had access to technology that allowed me to dabble in animation and special effects.
In the late 90's, I started experimenting with digital image manipulation, digital video effects, and editing. In to the 2000's my experiments started to grow in to small productions. I worked very hard and really pushed the limits of the not-so-professional tools I had to work with to achieve the polished, pro-looking results I wanted.
Lately I've been experimenting with different content and enjoying publishing things of personal interest. When I figure out exactly what I'm supposed to be doing with my website, I'll probably take it in a more focused direction. For now, I'm just having fun with it as time allows.
Dig what you see? Drop me a line and let me know. Or just sit there in silence and do nothing. Just remember - that's how the Star Trek (the original series) ended up getting canceled. :-)
